Scaling a surface and intersecting the original and scaled surface problem

Hi,

I'm trying to have sized openings on a meshed surface. Their size depends on results obtained in advance (bigger results = bigger/lower opening).

I'm succeeding when the surface is vertical. When the surface has a double curvature the success is limited.

I'm just basically scaling each mesh on it's center and then applying the Region Difference" component. Seems to be that the original mesh and the scaled are not coplanar, even though they seem to be on screen.

I'll appreciate your help finding an explanation why it is not working and/or suggesting an alternative solution.

Get the amazing weaverbird plug-in.  It has a built-in picture-frame component where you can adjust the offset according to each edge..it will make your life so much easier, and make this process run so much lighter.

Another question: I want to get also the negative portion. I mean the "hole" as a separate surface.

I'm trying with the MeshWindow of weaberbird. But again, many of them are missing in the double curved surface.

Hi Abraham-

I think that there may be some missing code in the meshwindow component...Giulio has added for most of his components their ability to convert closed polylines into simple meshes.  You can see that it's working fine for the PictureFrame component...but for some reason it isn't converting the same curves for the window.  There's an easy workaround, which is to explode your polylines to get individual segments and then use weaverbird's Mesh From Lines to build them into meshes before you feed them into the MeshWindow component.

I'll take your solution as an alternative. In the meantime i solved the issue using the Catmul-Clark Subdivision component. FYI attache here.
