Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am looking for some relatively straightforward scripts that would allow me to have an input curve, a director curve and an angular rotation for the input curve - which would subsequently produce a surface.

Is anyone aware of a link to such a thing that currently exists or interested in a small contract job?

Please ping me off list if you are interested in the latter.

Thanks!

Hi Jonathan, can you make a sketsh to visually explain what kind of surface you want?

Hi Peter.

I could send you something off list in the next couple of weeks if you are interested. I have to go out of town in a couple here but - basically I am not looking for one specific surface.

The idea would be to generate a script that would let me do, for instance, a donut but to make a different selection for both the input curve (generator), the director curve and the rotation that the generator is allowed to rotate.

So, for instance, the donut shape would be circle (input), circle (director) and then 360 degrees for the angle of rotation. Obviously one has to also have likely two pickpoints for where they are "joined". Then the next step would be to allow for an angle of "tilt" (front to back) as it completes the rotation/start to finish.

Maybe ping me off list and we can take it further?

Cheers and thanks.

I can't ping with anything Jonathan (I think) but it sounds to me like you are describing something like a moebius ring (or should I say moebius path?). See http://www.grasshopper3d.com/video/grasshopper-3d-moebius-strip by García del Castillo for instance. Please make a drawing if this is not it.

Hi Peter,

Thanks. Sent you a message.
