Scale floors but keep area the same

I want to scale the floors of this tower but keep the street edge at the same point and keep the overall square footage the same.

I started a script, but I'm stuck on how to scale the floors.  I created a slider for the number of floors above the plinth, and extruded the floor lines based on the maximum floor area.

Below is the concept, I want to start playing with how wide each floor is and keep the same overall square footage.  An extra step, not sure if I'll get there, would be able to adjust the pattern so that some consecutive floors and the same width, and also to shift more or less floors from one tower to the other.
