algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello everybody,
Im new inside the forum. I have a problem with grasshopper, like i said in the title, I have multiple surfaces, each one with a different angolation. I should rotate the surfaces in a way that they will be parallel to the xy world plan. Could someone help me? I started studying grasshopper a few times ago so i hope the question is not that stupid.

Hello Alessio,
Can you upload your files (rhino and grasshopper) so that we can see exactly what you mean?
Thank you, Nikos
Hi Nikos,
yes I m sorry i tried to upload my rhino file but is too big. I post a picture so i hope you can understand. i have the structure in the first image composed of one element that i previously adapted to a surface with paneling. I have to create a model of that structure and i need to prepare a file so i can cut that elements with laser. But to do that i need to orientate each one of that elements in a plane parallel to xy axes. Of course i could do that with rhino command but the structure has a lot of that elements and in the picture that i post there is just a little part. That's why i want to try to do it with grasshopper. However, what i tried to do is to use the command orient so i moved each element in a surface and then i exploded the elements and i created a surface using 4 vertex of the element. I thought that if i would have had surfaces, the rotation of each element parallel to the axis xy would have been easier, but now i'm lost because the rotate command ask for radiant value and i dont know the value and also each surface has different angles. Maybe my thought is wrong from the beginning and there is another way to do what i need. I hope i have been more clear this time. I also uploaded the grasshopper file.
Here the grasshopper file
The results that I want is exactly what you show me! but no one of my surface is planar, and yes they are organized in a single list.
Shouldn't they be planar in order to be laser-cut?
Yes that's right but like i said i put that elements with paneling and the surfaces are not planar...but it's not important for what i need now because i just need an approximate results for the model. So i tried your file and it works! so really thank you for your help and your time!!
Ok, great,
good luck with your project!
