algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hey GH users,
I would like to create a net like structure of what you see here. The exact inverse of what you see now.
I tried a few different techniques and couldn’t work it out. I am assuming there is a pretty straight forward solution.
My last attempt was to cut the original surface with each unit’s perimeter then subhtract the unwanted geometry.
All ideas and suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Sosa.

hi, i managed to solve your problem, you need to flatten the item output before the boolean operation, i hope it helps.

Thanks David,
It works fine with an open surface but the time it takes to upgrade after adjusting the sliders is suspect. I am thinking there must be more logical way of generating the same results.
Also applying the grid to a closed surface causes some issues with the boolean.
I will keep it going.
My end goal is to eventually create something like the image below:
Hi Sosa,
I'm new to Grasshopper and still have lots to learn, but could you achieve the results you want by using multiple open surfaces? If its a uniform pattern, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the seams?
I don't know, just thinking out loud...
Good luck,
David
Thanks David,
Are you talking about using a morph operation to panel the surface with units of open geometry?
The issue I have with morphing is creating smooth geometry
Wieland Schmidt seems to have mastered this with Weaverbird and some solid logic.
