Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, trying to install Rhino 4 on Windows 10 on bootcamp. The initialization fails. At first I got a message that .NET 2.0 framework is needed. I enabled that. Now it says initialization failed when loading the plugin on rhino. I appreciate your support!

You're better off asking pure Rhino questions on the Rhino discourse forum.

I don't even know if Rhino4 is supported on Windows 10, or any windows.

Thank you for your reply. I meant the initialization of grasshopper fails on rhino 4 installed on windows 10.

Rhino 4 works fine on windows 10.

Oh absolutely. Grasshopper requires a fairly recent service release of Rhino5 to run. There's an old version we keep around which will work on Rhino4 SR8, but that one is way old now.

Is the old grasshopper I have which ran fine on my old computer's rhino 4 transferable to this one?

You can download the old version from here:

Or you can try and copy all the files from your old machine and load the GrasshopperPlugin.rhp file using the Rhino plugin manager. The installer just automates some steps, but you should be able to do it all by hand.
