Reshaping surfaces

Hi,

I was wondering how I might alter the size of a surface and keep its area the same.  This seems like a simple concept, although the right components do not come to mind.  I have a series of stacked floor slabs or surfaces in a tower where the area has been calculated based on program parameters.  Is it possible to alter the shape of these surfaces while holding their original areas?
