Replicating a weighted Voronoi component - How to intersect cones ?

Hello,

I am looking for a way to create a weighted Voronoi diagram. All the options I found in the forum either make heavy use of plug ins, or rely on what seems deprecated behaviour in Grasshopper. Most of the stuff I looked at are neatly summarised in this topic.

Specifically, I am trying the method in this webpage from 2009. However, when I plug in the cones in both it gives me an error and tells me the intersection set is empty.

Is there a way around this behaviour ? Grafting the input seems to create all sorts of unwanted lines.

The effect I am trying to get can be seen in the photo and file attached, where not some cells intersect and others don't. However, I want to get that variation from the radiuses, not the spacing of points. (I want to apply it to a regular grid with different radii.)

I managed to get what I want by playing around with data structure. The file is attached, but I wonder if there is a less resource intensive way of doing the same thing
