Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

In the file attached, the region union is operating between a rectangle and a line and does not output any geometry. Should it not output the closed region (the rectangle) regardless? Just curious.

Many thanks,

Arthur

It's not a line, it's a closed polyline that looks like a line. Since it is closed it is a valid region, however it is also an empty one. That may be confusing the components.

I think the case can be made that empty regions should act like empty regions, i.e. they should not affect any Union or difference, but they should cause an intersection to be empty.

I'll see if I can find a way to reliably detect these cases and adjust the behaviour accordingly.

OK thanks a lot David.

I changed the components to take zero-area regions into account.
