algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello all

I am running into a problem with rhino 4 running out of memory. My system is 64x and allocates 4gb of virtual memory to rhino but the file it self takes up 1.5 gb when its opened and when i render in vray it basically maxes out 4 gb of virtual memory and says i'm out of memory.

so does anyone have any suggestion on how i can either modify my geometry or file size or rendering techniques so i can get my render going without maxing out my memory.

thank!

Try to export only visible geometry.

Convert all your NURBS stuff to mesh and export only the meshes to a new file. This not only helps you define the level of detail you need for the render but also reduces memory usage.

If you have lots of identical objects try to look into Blocks and VRay Proxies.

hello thank you for your reply.

im really curious about the vray proxies, from what ive read it seems perfect. What i dont undestand is, is it an option for all vray versions or is it a new feature for vray 1.5

thanks alot.

Vray proxies have been around for some time but only came to Rhino with version 1.5.
