algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hey! Throw in any design which fits the bill.
Background- Need to demonstrate the benefit of parametric representation of design with respect to the degree of diversity of result of iterations. This is for a proposed 'Computation in Design' subject at a college in India.
Condition- The faculty members are conservative to say the least. So, the building needs to be rectilinear, and preferably well known.
I can think of the Prairie houses represented using shape grammar, and Habitat 67 represented using voxels and peak points, at the top of my head. Any building can be represented for sure, but for rectilinear buildings, usually the ones with a higher number of geometric components (or operations) yield a more diverse set of options when iterated (obviously duh!). Can you suggest any more? I have to submit a proposal document for the subject, would love to put forth the best possible proposal. Cheers!

did you find anything?i too am working with shape grammar in urban design..any help would be great
"Any building can be represented for sure, but for rectilinear buildings, usually the ones with a higher number of geometric components (or operations) yield a more diverse set of options when iterated (obviously duh!)." What's the source?
Look into G.A.(genetic algorithms) C.A (cellular automata). Simple rules iterated over-time, can yield super complex designs. Moreover, multi-objective optimizations along with packing algorithms are the real deal these days. BTW,what school are you planning to introduce this subject in? Also, include scripting in the course (C# or Python, both have their advantages).
Hope this helps.
Mr A.
Oh before I forget then there is space syntax ( spatial analysis , integration and centrality etc.) and environmental analysis that can help drive designs.
