algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Dear Grasshopper Comunity,
today I have a challenge between something extremely easy to do in reality vs. trying to do it in grasshopper...
the process is simple as you can see in the image, from a square, you divide each side into 5 equal segments, the rest it's crystal clear in the sequence images bellow.
I hope you can help me or give some advice, I tried already some different ways, like starting from 4 points and dividing and having every part until step 4 but I realize that there is no "bend" so I can't control it and i can't go further to step 5 and 6... other method was understanding the shape like 2 tubes and trying to take away the void that have a square shape but with a round face.. well.. I couldn't do it! It's getting really frustrating..
So... any ideas?
thank you very much,
Miguel

What I did is probably overkill if all you wanted to do was roughly model the thing in Grasshopper. My definition actually simulates the bending of paper (or another non-stretchable material) by treating it as discrete, rigid triangles.
I haven't had time to properly annotate/organize the definition, but I've attached it anyway. Let me know if you'd like me to explain the definition or any specific part of it.
Dude that's awesome. Shame there isn't a like button :)
seriously, what a precise answer.
DUDE!... thats just great!! looks exactly like what i was trying to do.. later I'll try to used it in a square grid or something like that... I'll have to wait until tomorrow to check the definition cause I forgot my laptop at Uni and here i don't have grasshopper... but thanks I think that would do it.. I always had problems bending things.. awesome!
