Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello everyone.

Questions, these questions have been bugging me for a whole day.

1: A bunch of crvs-----> loft. Each of the crvs is one single crv with one segment, however, when I loft it, gh gives me a polysrf with 4 srfs. why? I mean it should be one single srf, am I wrong?

Please see attached srf.jpg

2: Split the lofted srf with another bunch of crvs, gh gives me some invalid srfs, why?

3: I have tried to pull the crv onto the srf, but, it gives me funny result, why?

4: The loft, I really want to keep a portion of the section to be exactly the same size, how can I achive that? FYI, I do not want to use "straight loft option" as it will loose the smooth transition.

Will attach the image and .gh in a minute.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you again for looking into this.

Hi.

First of all, your curves should be degree 3, but except the first one, your circles are all degree 2.

And for surface split, you'd be better off extending your cutting curves.

Check attached def. out. Best.

Hi Kim

Thank you for looking into this. Really appreciated.

How about the 4th question? Any idea? I know I am asking too much.

Hi. Bizkit.

To me, your wishes regarding "to keep a portion of the sections to be exactly the same size" and "smooth transition" are mutually contradictory.

If you want to get "crease like edges" , nurbs surface will need section curves which are very adjacent to one another like nurb curve(same as your first curve).

But it's a sort of cheating. They may never become the same position at all.

You'll need a better understanding about the nurbs geometry.
