ha ha okay now i feel silly, cheers jon.

Don't feel too bad, there's not lots in the way of a manual or documentation...

Hi Jon,

I have a question regarding the sdrPolyhedron component. Is the size input for the component actually the polyhedron's circumradius? If not, how is it scaled? I'm trying to scale a polyhedron based on edge length and have been stuck at this for a while. Thanks!

Steven

There's not an obvious consistent way to do this for all polyhedra.

But it is a linear proportion within the same type.  So if you create a single unit, bake it and then measure the desired edge.  Divide the desired length by measured and multiply the existing gh input scale by this factor and it should work.  If you want to post/email what you've after, I'll try to help.

Cheers,

Jon

Jon,

You're correct about the linear proportion method. What I've discovered, however, is that my problem is with the dodecahedron in the sdrPolyhedron component. What I'm trying to do is orient pyramidal shapes with regular pentagons as a base onto the pentagonal faces of the dodecahedron. The problem is the dodecahedron is actually a pyritohedron (irregular dodecahedron) which has pentagonal faces that have one edge longer than the other four.

Do you know if there is a way to make the polyhedron a regular dodecahedron instead of making the base of the pyramidal shapes irregular? As always, thank you for your help and work.

Steven
