algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello All,

I'm new here.

So, I've been beating on a problem for several days. I have a developed shape that I'm attempting to apply a 3D voronoi to.

I've found examples and tutorials for applying a 2D voronoi to the surface of a developed shape.

I've found examples and tutorials for applying a 3D voronoi to a rectangular shape.

I've found examples of a 3D voronoi applied to a developed shape.

What I haven't been able to find or figure out is how to apply a 3D voronoi to a developed shape.

Can anyone here help me out?

For lines, intersect the voronoi 3d with the developed shape.

For solid, trim the 3d voronoi with the developed shape.

Thank you for the suggestion. I gave it a try. Unfortunately the results weren't satisfactory.

 

Voronoi geometry generates a rhythm that although all cells are in fact unique, they all have a correctness in their size, shape, and location.

 

Without confining the algorithm to the surface of the developed shape, the poetry of the voronoi is lost and the resulting geometry is rather unpleasant, and lacking in structural soundness.

 

That said, are all of the examples of a 3D voronoi applied to a developed shape done with grasshopper’s competitors, i.e. Generative Components, Autodesk Dynamo, Catia/Gehry Technologies, etc.?

Please provide an image of what you want to do.

Unfortunately I need to break from this project. I'll be back to it late next week.
