hello all,
what is the difference between a line-like curve and a linear curve.

A Line-like curve is linear and contains only two control-points. A Linear curve might contain a number of consecutive co-linear segments. A Line-like curve is what happens when you convert a Line to a Curve. A Linear curve is when a nurbs-curve happens to have all its control points in a row.
