algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi All,
i'm a structural engineer and use grasshopper to pipeline geometry into tools for finite element analysis.
i have a scipt delivering the geometry of a shape connection (tooth-like..) with a gap between the two elements. the purpose is to export it to a finite element environment and simulate the stresses within the connection.
In the gap between the two pieces (internal and external element) are small line-segments that will become springs or coupling elements later. they must bridge the gap orthogonally.
to investigate a huge number of different variations (number, shape and angle of teeth) the whole thing will be run in an ev. search, so no manual handling will be possible.
this works quite well with mesh machine for triangulated meshes, but for proper FE-analysis i need quad meshes. i tried different options, but didn't succed yet.
any help will be greatly appreciated!
best michel

I tried that as well, looks like i at first have to manually subdivide the surface before meshing. was hoping to avoid that...
