Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

GH Python crashes every time a Python node is dropped on canvas. This can be consistently replicated every single time and is extremely annoying.

ENVIRO PARAMS:

  • Rhino 5 (64-bit) SR12
  • GH 0.9.0076
  • GH Python 0.6.0.3
  • Iron Python 2.7.6.3

Help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

please check versions:

  • version of Rhino - you need Rhino 5 SR12 or SR13. See this in the Menu -> Help -> About.
  • Grasshopper - you need 0.9.0.76. See this in the lower right corner.
  • GhPython - you need 0.6.0.3. In Grasshopper, go to Menu -> Help -> About. Click on the small (-). Double-click the Python icon. Check the version in the dialog.

You must also enable the IronPython plug-in in the Rhino Options panel. Disabling it will cause GhPython not to work.

Does it help?

EDIT: What do you mean by:

  • "Iron Python 2.7.6.3" ?

Rhino 5.0 embeds 2.7.0 (2, 7, 0, 'beta', 0) and you should not attempt to change that. If you have an independent IronPython install on the system, it might cause confusion if the installation is performed in the GAC. See more information.

Hi Giulio~

My initial post noted the versions of software I had installed (matches all in your response).

I installed Iron Python 2.7.6.3 independent of Rhino. Could this be overriding? If yes, does RH5 need to be re-installed, or can I simply remove IP?

M

Removing IP 2.7.6.3 worked. No re-install of RH5 required. M

Awesome! Thanks for letting me and the rest of the forum know!

that did the trick for me as well! - thanks
