Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi everybody

i am doing some experiments on strip twisting and bending, and certain parameters are kind of successfully injected (i think...), but i am a bit confused about the proliferation with the elements as there are quite a lot constraints.

the images attached are the fundamental constraints of the elements / components, they are twisted and bend with x and y axis changes. there are some more like z direction variation and introduction of other similar elements.

i am thinking whether i should take the elements as a boundary box element and proliferate them into a larger assembly, or should set of point (now the origin is 0,0,0) as generation of the structure?... as i am wondering if i use the points of coordinates, would that be somehow like manual modeling...? and i tried boundary box, and it would obviously modify the component outside the constraints given...

thanks thanks thanks so much!

It would be helpful if you could provide an image of what you are trying to achieve. It is not clear from your verbal description.
umm sorry about that... but i couldn't really proceed anything as all the methods i tried distorted the model, so i actually have no more images to illustrate that... it's kind of flip, mirror or increase the curvature of the above components to achieve some kind of larger scale assembly. as they are made by wood strips instead of CNC or 3d printer, they couldn't be vary so much thats why i would like to try some method which will proliferate according to the constraints parameters.... i hope it could be standardized to certain extent.

but i got a physical model and i will upload it a bit later when i got that back.. thanks so much!!!!
hi again... i made a test on the structure like this

this is for the test of the structure with the standard elements (3 variations created from the standard elements). and i would like to make a proliferation similar to this physical model based on the basic element.. but with different variation....

ehhh i know it's pretty chaotic... but please suggest me some methods or samples that i could have a try... thanks so much!!
Hi Lap,

Have a look at the enclosed, maybe of use to you.

It's difficult to assertain the pattern of constraints(clips) from the pic you posted.

It would be easier if you drew a diagram showing the points where the clips are located.

Anyway I hope this helps.

Cheers

Evert
