Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am just running through the tutorials (1st simple beam set-up) and when trying to run the solver I get an error "1. Solution exception:Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I double-checked the settings and it looks right to me.

What seems to be the problem?

Hi,

Can you please send me the rhino file with the defined geometry, so that I can try reproduce the error and hopefully find its origin?

Thanks,

Hi Oded,

Here are the files.

I think the design space in your example was very coarse and couldn't obtain a reasonable finite element discretization. I scaled it up and updated some of the settings - note that you need at least one of the supports to fix both x and y.

Also - it seems that the plugin version you are using is slightly different - at least visually some of the tags are different. It may be OK but I suggest to download the current version.

Attached are the updated files, I tested them and it seems to run smoothly. Let me know if any further problems are encountered.

Hi Oded,

Ok seems like object needs to be scaled up to increase discretization resolution - also as you said need to constrain at least one of the supports for x and y.

I am using the latest version downloaded from Food4Rhino. Thanks a lot for the help.
