algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello
I need help please
I have a problem when i add a support to to my example, it doesn't work. Could you tell me why?

Hi Sandra,
You created a pipe without caps. Your support point is located at the end of the pipe, in the center where it has no connection with the mesh.
If you add caps to the pipe, by changing the input for E in the Pipe Component to 1, it should work.
Best,
Andreas
Hi Andreas
Thank you very much for your help, it works. But i have another question: My example is about a carbon tube (shell element), supported on both ends, is my file correct?? my second support doesn't appear? is it normal??
In your scenario you got the two supports on both ends set up correctly. But be sure to apply some support conditions for translation and/or rotation, otherwise there would be no support when it would be able to move freely.
If you want the tube to remain hollow, then the supports should be placed along the edge of the tube, or at least it should be located where it touches the mesh. Because I don't think the tube can be supported in mid-air, without touching the mesh itself.
Best,
Andreas
you mean i should make support along the edge of the tube using meshes. How could i do it please?
In the attached file, I moved the support points down, to the edge of the hollow tube.
Thank you very much Andreas.
in your file, you did not use the caps and the mesh but how did you do to have this result.
I am looking to study a mandrel for winding filament, the tube is in permanent rotation. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNAG5AuHujs)
The tube used in the video is closed, so in that case using the former model with closed caps and support points in the center seems more reasonable. Assuming that the cross sections of the tube are constant, the shape and structure will not change by rotating the tube around its axis. Neither will the deformation after applying some loads.
