Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am quite new with Grasshopper, and I met a problem with a very simple example with facet dome (see the attached file). When the composant generate the facet dome I have the feeling that it lacks 1 or 2 facets to close the dome (I am starting from a sphere with projected point on it).

I will appreciate any comment on that.

Best regards,

Christophe

mh, thats the end of the intersections. If you put a slider to the R of the Facet you see what I mean. It all gets created with intersections of circles. And your secound pictures shows a curved part of two circles. I would suggest you to play aroound with your sliders (Random and sphere radius) and see if you get a good solution.

Or set your own Bounding box to the facet.

Thanks a lot for your help, you are right.Yet in fact I was thinking it was the root cause of my problem with facet dome / geodesic, but it wasn't, so I am a little bit more confused ;-)

On certain circumstance, the projection of a facet segment to a sphere using geodesic is generating strange curve. I attached the file. You have an example on the picture. In red, the facet segment, in green the geodesic projection.

Any idea ?

Thanks for your help,

Regards,

Christophe.

Best regards,

Christophe.

hey, how do you like this one? I do not know if it leads you to a solution of your problem...but have a look :-)

Thanks, I will give it a try.

Otherwise, dividing by 2 the segment seems to solve the projection problem.
