Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm trying out some typography styles. I made this definition which originally divides the lengths of a textobject, as you can see in the attached file. But for some reason, points-on shows that it retains the point where the old line was. It gives this effect of the text being duplicated, which I don't want. I tried 'rebuild' to bring it down to just 2 points, the only two a line needs. I'm not sure why, maybe someone can explain, but rebuilding the curves to 2 points makes it jut off randomly in the opposite direction. This creates an interesting effect, as seen in the file "you are here3-02.jpg" but it's not what I'm looking for at the moment. My goal is to have a line of random length coming off at a 45 degree angle from the text, so that the text is readable but the tails form a random cloud of lines 45 degrees from it. It would be like "you are here2-02.jpg" except the line tails to the top-left are at random lengths. I'm going from grasshopper, to rhino, to illustrator.

Thank you.

Eric - I think this is getting a little closer to what your inspiration image is getting at. I think you might need to do more exploration with the kerning of the letters and the distance of the words form each other to get the desired effect. I also found that a more subtle line extension was necessary to maintain eligibility of the original words.

Hope this helps!

Haha, every time I open your .gh file in grasshopper it crashes rhino, any idea why might that be? This is a very rare thing for me so I don't think it's an issue with my computer...

Not sure what happened there, but here's the definition. Like I said, I didn't really change much, just played with the variables.

Great than you! it worked this time!

However, I'm still getting the same issues. It's still got the redundant control points as you can see below. Is there a way to delete the original line and keep just the extension? Because exporting it to illustrator without anything else than a lineweight applied still shows the fact that there's an unjoined or doubled line. You can see it here:
