Preserving geometry references in grasshopper

Hello,

This is a simple question (and apologies if it has been answered before) but is there an easy way to preserve the geometry references between grasshopper and rhino? Every time I close the programs and start working again, the reference links are lost and I have to relink everything. I'm working on a project that requires over 40 links, so this would save a lot of time.

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi Jason,

couple of questions:

What version of Grasshopper are you using?

Are you using the same Rhino Document each time?

Thanks for your reply Danny,

I'm using version 9.006, and yes, same grasshopper file and same rhino file. Everything is working fine, only when I close both the programs and open them again, the links are lost. For some reason all the curves I've linked are preserved, but the Breps referenced into geometry nodes need to be re-linked.

I think this was a bug in version 0.9.0006 for Internalised Geometry. try upgrading to a later version.

0.9.0014 for Rhino 4 or the very latest for Rhino 5

The next release*, version 0.9.0009 has this in its feature list

Failed data conversions in parameters would result in missing entries, this is fixed.

EDIT: I should stipulate that the next release from the one you are using

Thanks for your help Danny. Unfortunately I only have Rhino 4, and I think those versions only work with 5. Will have to look into upgrading, but in the meantime, would you know a download link for 0.9.0014? The link on the grasshopper download section requires R5

Hope this is the one for R4, but it should be.

Many thanks Florian, downloaded it and it worked.

Really really appreciate it.

Jason

great...your welcome

Someone can correct me if im wrong but that version will still work. I think the only difference is that it no longer insists that you have rhino 4 installed

the r5 beta versions insisted a r4 installation. not grasshopper.

this gh build was the last one, that was able to start in r4, due to containing a special build of the rhinocommon libraries. Rhino 4 didn't work on rhinocommon. Since r5 is public release david stopped adding a rhinocommon implementation for r4 to get gh working on both. Therefore newer gh will not work on r4.

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/page/download-1Should be here, I want to send a GH0.90014 to you, but the file over 5 MB, I'm very sorry, I add you good friend, if there is no you send an email to me, I send you, I use of GH hope helpful to you
