thank you for the prompt reply!

I am just wondering is it possible to treat the site model as objects that only block sunlight but not calculating solar radiation? or maybe that it is a less refined mesh which supports the analysis of the actual building.

p.s. I am now trying out to combine the use of Geco with Galapagos which several tower models of same footage is evaluated to get the optimum result under solar analysis.

Without the site the project would be less convincing as different models have different orientation in order to 'respond' to the site.

thanks,

Calvin

the calculation can be setup to only calculate the selected object or facade but it is taking the site in account. just check our examples

looking forward to see some output of your geco galapagos research

would be nice if you can send us something

cheers,

Sorry, but i have this same issue, what example can i take a look to figure out how to select specific object to be calculated and others just as site?

It is possible to run the analysis just on selected surfaces. For that you have to export the environment and the to analyzed object separately. First the environment than the object. After that you have to go threw the solar analysis manually mode in ecotect. Activate the toggle for just selected object and start it once and stop it with escape button on the keyboard(sorry for that process but autodesk has a bug in the engine so that we still can not access that feature without this).

Afterwards just select the object and start the process in GH and geco and use just the ID numbers of the analyzed  object two feedback the data.

best

Hey Uto,

Thanks for Geco! can you be more specific on this procedure, I know how to change the settings in ecotec. But can you please be more specific on how to export both the environment and object to analyze in GH? for example in the N input of the "export mesh to ecotec" component what parameter should it be set  to for the context geometry and the geometry to analyze?

Also I didint understand your last paragraph.

Thank you in advance!

I can see that the topic have been around the material changing in geco to ecotect, and this topic might all ready been solved.

Its just that i am looking for away to simulate a flow of lique throw buildings element, so called dynamic thermal mass.

But the case is that i want the lique to be moved around the building so it have a content temp of 22 C, so that it is moved away/and to the sun using pumps. And i would really like to find away to find out the amount of lique needed to provide an internal comfert zone ?

i would like to hear if their is away in geco/grasshopper/ecotect to get to this point.

regards

PS: good job with the plug in, i owe u

Hi Jesper,

thanks for your comment.

Sorry liquid simulation is not possible!

Is it possible to export geometry from Rhino AND the mesh that Ecotect analyzes?

For example what if I have a louver system and I want to test how much light is getting past the louver system into the building?

Hi.

Initially sorry for my english.

I need to know how can i do when the time necessary for the calculation in Ecotect is over the internal timeout of this component.

There is, also, a way for change this timeout, or for import in a different way the solar radiation calculation?

Thanks for all!

Hi roberto,

no problem:

this was asked already

Hi Ben,

The Analysis does not stop (ecotect will finish your calculation)

This Timeout is a security reason and also let the user continue his/her work in RH

after it is finished just refresh the ecotectlink and request the final analysis

Thank you very much!!!

i would like to know if there is any manual sources about GECO,like ebooks

i would like to learn GECO , how should i learn about it

thank you
