polygon to box question

I have a polygon which I would like to represent as a box in grasshopper .. it has 8 edges.. but wehn I reference it into grasshopper it just creates a bounding box around it instead of using the shape as a box.. I need this for surface mapping.. any suggestions?

I am not sure i understand what you want.how can a polygon be represented like a box? can you please share an image of you are doing and what you are after?
