Points coming out half-baked?

Hello, 

I have baked some points from an area component for use on a definition and when I load them into a new pt component for the same definition it crashes without fail every time with what should be a lighter calculation. I tried to export them to clean them externally as ply, txt, obj, etc. but export fails. It seems as though they have one foot in a parallel dimension. I have run them through every laundry routine I know of. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this a current bug?
