algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi,
I'm really new to grasshopper and am struggling with placing a map underneath a set of plotted coordinates showing specific points within each London borough.
I have created a map in Rhino, but it's not to a scale and I can't work out how to place it in the correct position.
Also the coordinates seem to be distorted because of the curvature of the earth, but the map is flat, is there something I can do to adjust this?
I have been struggling with this for so long, really can't work out what to do. Can anyone help me??
Thanks
Lucy

Hi Lucy,
Can you supply the Image that you have used for the map as it isn't in the 3DM file.
yeah sorry must attached the wrong file.
Here it is:
I can't seem to save it below 5MB, is there any other way to make the file any smaller to attach it?
Here's the file with the map
Thanks
Sorry this file is the proper one
Thanks
Hi Lucy, There are several Geo projection methods. This page might help you with that: (https://github.com/mbostock/d3/wiki/Geo-Projections). If you have lat/lon of points you should be able to use the right projection to find the coordination.
Hi Mostapha,
I do have the latitude and longitude of these points in the csv file ive attached to the original post, however I am really new to all this software I don't really know what to do next, could you help?
Lucy
Hi Danny,
Thank you so much for this, so helpful.
I've got the human and heron plugins into grasshopper. To make the the human plug-in work, do I use this URL to get the image of London?:
http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Street_...
This is where i get to? Not sure how to export the images of London from this web page. Could you show me how to make it work? Also what do I set the curve to within the algorithm?
Thanks Lucy
You don't have to get them manually. Its all handled by the component.
Sorry Danny, but I don't really understand, should the algorithm work just by opening up your files or do I need to attach anything to the curve? Because at the moment when I open it, the ESRI REST Service Geocode and the GET REST Raster are both red.
Really sorry, I am very new to all this
Have you set a folder for the images to be downloaded to?
Welcome to
Grasshopper
