algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I’m quite new to Karamba and exploring its possibilities at the moment.
Is it possible to analyze buckling of a simple plate using Karamba?

Kind regards,
Balaji.

Hi Balaji,

yes it is. For details please see the manual.

Best,

Clemens

Hi Clemens,

Thanks for the response.
I happened to create a simple definition for a plate meshed using shell elements and applied standard boundary conditions (plate (XY plane)simply supported at the periphery; compressive forces applied in plane along one direction (X axis)), to check and understand the functionality.

I get an error as follows though.
„There are no defined second order NII forces..“

I do not have the definition file in hand at the moment and could share it sooner.
Is this error typical?
Am I missing some key info in here?
I happen to notice info in the manual about beams and N11 forces, while reading it.

Kind regards,
Balaji.

Hi Balaji,

in order to do a buckling analysis in Karamba one needs to supply normal forces NII which form the basis of the geometric stiffness matrix and thus the linear buckling analysis in.

The easiest way to generate the NII forces is to do a second order theory analysis using the 'AnalyzeThII'-component prior to plugging the model into the 'Buckling Modes'-component.

Best,

Clemens
