algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone. I have been spending some time on grasshopper trying to create a rock shaped object. All the faces have to be planar with minimum of 4 sides. I have attached 2 images so you can get a better understanding of what I am trying to do here. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with a script or any suggestion on how to make this work.
This is what I am trying to do:
This is an example of the form I am trying to achive:

I think this may help you..
Hey Diego, Thanks for the reply. I had seen this before. the problem with it is that it seems to be too random. I am more looking for a script that transforms a nurb form into a faceted shape with planar faces.
If you can get an initial division of the surface (allowing the faces to be twisted), you can then planarize the faces using Kangaroo. I'll try and post an example later
Daniel,
Thanks for the reply. I would appreciate if you could give me an example?
I 'm interesting in this method also, I found research paper of Emily Whiting http://www.math.zju.edu.cn/cagd/Seminar/2007_SpringSummer/2007_Spri...
and David Cohen-Steiner http://www.geometry.caltech.edu/pubs/CAD04.pdf
But I don't understand there algorithm clearly. My point of view are same as Sohail Masoudi to try to reshape curvy form to planar facet with more than 4 edges.
Anyone know this or has an idea please share.
Hi Sohail, are you still trying to do this at all? If so, see if these components work:
