Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

So ... The same question that is everyone is asking. How to divide a surface into Planar Hexagons. I have been trying to do this for over a week now. I have googled every single website and looked at every single project and post about planar Hexagons. I have tried tutorials online and I STILL cann't get this script to work perfectly as I would hope it would be.

Here is the Rhino and Grasshopper File.

Any help would be SO MUCH appreciated.

This is much easier to do using Kangaroo2

Here is a definition that works with your file.

Since the shape is all positive curvature it works nicely with just planarization. For more complex forms with negative curvature it might need a few more goals to keep the hexagons from distorting too much.

UH MY GOD. I Freaking love you. You are increadable. Thank you SOOOOO soooo much for the help.

Hey Daniel, Very small question, I got the script to work, but it seem that Kangaroo2 stops working everytime I try to change the number of divisional Hexagons. Any reason why that happens ? I rest it, changed the true/false and clicked Data Dam too but it just fails.

here is an image of the error I keep getting everytime I try to change the numbers of divisional Hexagons
