algorithmic modeling for Rhino

picking one point from a folded plate-fold,unfold it-the rest stays in it´s shape

hi!

i just built a folded plate out of different elements and I am just wondering if it´s possible to rotate one or two elements and the other elements stay in their place.

the situation now is,that when I rotate one element all the other ones follow.

Thank you

Don't know how you imagine this to work in practice. You can't rotate one without touching the others. At least the two adjoining elements need to be updated and the position in space of the rest will change if the creases aren't parallel or at least angled in a way that would compensate for the lateral movement while folding around a non rectangular crease.

That said, you need to make sure that the for each folding angle the previous and following creases are folded with half the angle in the other direction. Then compound all the transformations again. This will work for parallel folds. Angled folds will introduce an error that you would need to compensate. But I guess it would involve some more complex math...
