algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Grasshoppers!
Here is the companion you missed...
Why don't you go playing together?
See this discussion too. I think it would be possible to use kangaroo rather than galapagos with this method.
Please post works and comments.

Systemiq,
My bad! It comes from Karamba. You can change it in the first cluster, it's very close to the end before the loft component. Or download karamba.
synergy,
Rhino curves = input your curves
Modified curves = galapagos modified curves
plug the one you want into the curve list component
Sampling = the number of division
Reverse curve list and Multi planks mode sometimes help to get better results.
Multi planks mode Normal = curve 0 to curve 1, 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4 etc
Multi planks mode Jump = curve 1 to curve 0, 1 to 2, 3 to 2, 3 to 4 etc
Kill cusps = remove generatrices that cross previous ones. It's cheating.
Lowest Admissible Min Radius = only controls the gradient. About 2m for 15mm plywood.
Ther will be more explanation in a next release.
Fred.
It looks like I cant make Karamba run under rhino5, and I have some bugs on my rhino 4 version, so I changed it as you suggested so it can work with Kangaroo.
Notice: using the Galapagos optimization can be frustrating as it needs a loooot of time, first time users should probably set the population very low (about 5), to be sure it is running ok, then set it back to 50, start and go do something else.
Also, if you dont connect the two components with the red dots between them, launching galapagos may crash rhino.
synergy: this defintion should automagically work with your file
OK, i input the rhino curves, but i don´t know how to use the galapagos modified curves...sorry.
I would appreciate A LOT (need to test a curved developable roof) some noobs tutorial (please) or something.
first, did you take care of the remove duplicate lines error (see above)?
Rhino curves = input your curves
Modified curves = galapagos modified curves
plug the one you want (i.e. modified curves) into the curve list component
Plug an ARN cluster for each curve you input into the big merge component on the left and link the sliders to galapagos.
then launch the solver.
Use low sampling, 10 or 15 depending on the curves. 25 max.
did you open the 3dm file? it should be all rigged.
Uff, i feel like an idiot.
Can i watch a similar procedure before i attempt this? I feel lost, and if this is similar to this method (http://eat-a-bug.blogspot.com/2010/10/developable-surface-optimization.html) i think is THE solution for my roof.
I don´t want to forced you to help me, i just wanna learn the basics to test your work.
Of course, thanks a lot.
Maybe with a easy example:
How can i get a developable lofted surface from the attached curves using your method?
Don't worry about this error, it's a feature that doesn't work yet.
it's 2.34e-10 (0.0000000002.34), see the GC display factor.
As you can see in the end of the video, the surface unrolls properly (0.06% bigger). I stopped the solver after the first generation too.
If you feel there are still hard points then you should probably modify control points again. As I said, you need fair and look-alike curves to get a fair dev surf. That's why I rebuilt the in the begining.
