Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I have created a set of random points on a set of surface lines, my ultimate goal is to create a set of random panels, however, I can't figure out how to draw perpendicular lines on the set of points I have created.

(please take a look at the attached file and script)

I'd appreciate it if someone can shed some light on my problem!

Hi Andy,

Those lines need to be perpendicular in accordance to what? You are looking for a perpendicular lines onto particular surface, from particular points on that surface?

Can you post some sketch of what are you trying to achieve?

Hi,

I want to draw a perpendicular line from the points I generated to the line next to it, so with the vertical surface lines I already have, I want to use the random points as a basis to divide each vertical column into random sized panels. much like the image I have attached

I can not help you that perpendicular lines.
But maybe something like this will work:

You need a Lunchbox component in order for this definition to work.

Download it from here (click on "Download v0.35 Installer - October 14, 2012"), turn off your Rhino and Grasshopper, and install Lunchbox then run the Rhino and Grasshopper again.

btw,

the .3dm file was to large for attaching it through the forum upload option, so you can download it from here:
