Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

So I tried to build a perforated panel in rhino model and it keeps crashing. So I thought it would be easier to script in GH and bake the panel to rhino. I've managed to draw all the curves but am stuck on how to create surface and trim the holes.. Can anyone help? Thanks

Thanks De,

This is what I've tried.. why isn't this working?

ps. You will need to draw a rectangular curve in rhino and link to the gh curve.

hey,

thats too many, too big. (I guess)

here is another way to do it. You just have to organize the edge.

Can't see what they aré advicing you, but the usual way is once you have every inner curve in one flatten tree and the boundary merged, you will use planar surcase.
Some times it crashes or maybe it previews right but it doesn't bake well. If that issue happens try the same but with loft component. It should go smooth.
One thing, it is too slooooow to calculate, don't know why.
Hope it helps.
PS: watch out it has to be a flattened tree!!

Here's one way if the circle radii are the same on any types of surface.

Should be faster on a planar surface.

Also, to alternate the holes like in your pic, I was lazy so I divided the surface with an odd number and just did a alternating true-false operation.

I want to make treads with perforated metal panels... Is there a definition I can just plug the surface into that someone can post? I am new to grasshopper.. THANKS!

Hope this helps.

The definition wouldn't load.  I'll try again later.

Another try.

An yet again.
