Parametric Observation Tower

I'm sharing one of our students question below.

"I am quite new to GH know most basic components.

I want to create the same structure on the link I'm sharing below;

Massing and Part images are attached.

I don't know how I can parametrize the dimensions and angles.

To understand the structure I made a sample mock-ups of the 3D grid with surfaces and paper stripes which are also attached.

It is kind of URGENT for me to model this structure so I'd be happy to hear from you asap."

Hello,

first thinking it seems to be a question "do my work for me" for me ! First read that :

But it seems that you began to think a bit with mockup, if you want to do the exact shape don't use GH, Rhino is enough. If you want to do some parametric, the first thing is to analyse your problem. Grasshopper will come after. What I understood is that the structure is a sort of segmented helix.

How many segments ? 10 ?

How many Helix ? Here 2

How many steps per segment ? All the same or not ?

What slope (length/height of step) ?

What width of the steps ?

Just one Axis of rotation ?

How is done the link at the top ?

When you will begin to use these parameters, you will begin to have some answers, and new questions.

I think you can begin by drawing the inner or outer curve of the steps. I hope you learn at school the classical length/heights of steps. Height of ramp, widths ...

First of all, thank you for all the guidance and sample work.

As mentioned before, I was in a rush and waiting for approval. I've been trying myself on both Rhino and Grasshopper and I love your definition.

I actually write the same definition but somehow, somewhere there is an error that I couldn't find.

I attached the definition.

By the way, is it possible to share your definition?

Hello

there was error with panel, as they output text if you type a return, a space things can get wrong.

You also plug equation of the step in bad order first (0,0,0), then (0,0,height) then (depth, 0, height), merge component could be useful to keep good order.

....

try to follow the script using the button "only draw preview geometry of selected button".

Draw what you want, try to find parameters, model. I began by a step, the I copy it x times, then moved it, then rotate all the steps, then scale them ....
