OT: CATIA cgr file format viewer.

Does anyone know of a Viewer of the CGR format. I know there is a Importer for Rhino costing about £1000. Other than that my search of t'internet has provided nothing useful. I need to be able to view and possibly print but without the hefty price tag.

Any ideas?

SOLUTION:

In case anyone else comes across this. The solution I have ended up with is an expensive one (as it seems Dassault Systems want to charge you for the air you breath), CATIA conversion to Rhino by DATAKIT, a word of warning the process of getting the free trial and a temporary License etc is about as clear as mud. That being said Paul at SimplyRhino.co.uk was very helpful getting me sorted. I would recommend you call them first.

If you have access to Autodesk Inventor, there's a free plugin on Autodesk labs.

Take a look at the long integer starting on byte 8, it seems to point to the block headers in the end of the file, with the next long describing the length of that block.

If it's only triangulated meshes you need, it should be possible to find a few pointers to where to find the vertices and faces.

Do you have a test file with a known number of vertices/faces/meshes/attributes?
