algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Orienting panels to horizontal
Hi. it seems like it should be easy but I am struggling with making a way to orient all my panels to a horizontal plane for lazercut. i need a way to rotate them about their center points so that i dont lose the order/position...
This is what ive tried so far which isnt working...

This is because each of the surfaces is a trimmed surface so the plane axis is not necessarily oriented to an edge. Use the first edge or first two vertices to calculate the rotation of each panel to zero ( aligned with X axis).
Looks like you will want a nesting algorithm at some point as well.
