algorithmic modeling for Rhino

i have a basic question about the "orient"

Goal is very simple, i want to orient triangle blocks on the every block's side(like right picture).

And the problem is the one of the direction is wrong, you can see the overlapping color(like left picture).

I know I can use "Rotate" to solve my problem, but i just curious how to use "Orient" to achieve that.

Hi Shan,

I believe this is a safe way to do this:

(Use the Variable Parameter ZUI on [item] to get the 3 output planes you want)

Your solution is perfect, but i still have some question.

I tried to do that in the triangular pyramid, but i found one of the triangular pyramid position was wrong when i oriented it to the new position. Did i neglect something?

And i noticed some of the planes direction was wrong, two were toward inside, another two were toward outside, but the strange thing was one of the triangular pyramid oriented perfect?!

Should i adjust all the vector direction toward same direction before i do next step?

Hi Shan,

I am not sure why this happens. It just proves that my method was not solid enough...

Would mirroring your geometry be efficient?

Maybe one day i will figure out that, and i will remember to tell you!

Thanks you Nikos!

Regards

Shan
