Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all.

I was hoping you could help me as i'm drawing abit of a blank.

I've got two sets of coordinates. These coordinates correspond with the vertices of two meshes, each with the same number of vertices but with differing vertice locations and vertice numbering.

I need to take the list of vertices in one and match it to the other.

Unfortunately i'm at home at the moment but I've just whipped something up that explains better than me what it is i'm trying to do.

Thanks for your time,

Rob

Hello Roberts

why not try sort points component

cheers

alex

Apologies if i'm wrong but doesn't sort points just sort them in ascending order? I need the even list to match the horrible "random" list.. it's basically so that we can get it back into another program which will recognize the "random" list but not the one where the vertices are nicely organised.

Oh sorry i misunderstood and thought you want the clean organization. let me look at his later and get back to you.

ok i am confused. in the screenshot you note that the upper points list (which is mixed) need to match the lower points list (which is orgnaized). so i am not sure what you are after.

Aye sorry, that's what happens when I try to whip something up so tired. I'll fix it now but yes it should be the other way around.

In reality I have 3 meshes btw.

  1. From the program i'm trying to get this point list into which is out of order
  2. Exactly the same geometrically as 1 but has the points organised the same as 3
  3. and 3, where the shape is deformed but has the same vertices numbering as 2.

I'm attempting to get the list of points from 2/3 to be the same as number 1.

don't worry happens to me all the time too.

if that is the case, if you use the same sort list component but with the lower points list you have same organization with the upper (mixed).

So frustrating, I swear I tried this really early on.. at like 3 this afternoon but I think I've been getting confused by the pointlist component. I've assumed it was showing the corresponding list index.. but it must be something else? Anyway, as you can see from the grasshopper output it works so ... thanks for all your help :)

that's weird

this is what i a get.

but since you have the lists right good luck with the rest of it!

cheers

alex

Hi Robert, try this for now:
I personally think it's a nasty workaround...

Forgot the file with your internalized meshes...~

Thanks Pieter, I think I've cracked it.
