Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

Pretty new to Grasshopper/Kangaroo so please bear with me!

Looking for some advice on how to simulate the orbit of an object approaching a a black hole; ie the object goes into an elliptical orbit that results in an eventual collision with the source of the gravity.

Se sketch of the sort of desired outcome!

ANY advice whatsover would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a simple example to start with. (to run it click the reset button once then double click the timer to start it playing)

Try altering some of the parameters, such as mass, drag or starting velocities.

With only 2 bodies the result will not be as chaotic as your sketch, but if you introduce a 3rd then things get a lot more interesting...

Hi Daniel, thank you so much! It is a great start (exactly what I was after!) It's actually to form the basis for a light design in a studio I am undertaking at the moment, I will try to add a third point and get it working in three dimensions, if you know any short cuts let me know!

Best,

David
