Off topic - Laser-cutting machine

Hi,

Kind of a off topic question...
Dose anyone know a good guide to which laser cutting machine is the best buy at the moment? or Do you have any suggestions on which brand is the best buy?

Size / Value / Speed / Flexibility etc...

I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences with me!

ps. I've been looking at these machines, anyone have used them?

Hello!

I´m no expert, but I have been using the two lasercutters at my university (KTH Stockholm).

We have Epilogs, dont remember exactly what model... They are PC operated, quite quick and with a cutting area of 900 x 600mm. They cut, cardboard, mdf and plexi etc. If you want to bee able to cut PVC based plastics you need good ventilation due to the fumes.

Please take serious note of this!!!

Cutting PVC based products on a laser is extremely dangerous as PVC gives off Chlorine Gas when it is laser cut. This can kill.
As well as the serious damage to health it is also highly corrosive to laser machines and extraction systems unless it is a PVC specific machine. We have seen machines literally rot away from cutting PVC.

I understand your concern about these machines. I had the same problem before, just not easy to choose and buy a laser machine. I checked the link and the machine looks good, but a little expensive? I'm not sure. I bought the machines in China in 2008. It is still using.
