algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

Is it possible to modify second-order analysis so that Karamba would use stiffnesses calculated using a custom VB-code block? I'm trying to create a nonlinear concrete column analysis using Karamba. Stiffness is linked to section curvature, and curvature is linked to section stresses and strains. If I have a way of obtaining stiffness through these via a VB block, can I use that together with second order analysis block?

Hello Tuomas,

at the moment Karamba can not calculate physically nonlinear phenomena like cracked concrete.

A simplified approach would be to do an incremental analysis and change the cross section depending on the strain state in the model in each iteration. This could be done in the same way as a cross section optimization. For an example of a corresponding script take a look at here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/karamba/forum/topics/change-beam....

Best,

Clemens

Thanks for the reply,

I'll take a look into this method you pointed out. Hopefully it will suffice.
