Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

We have 16 licenses of Rhino among various design staff in several offices firm wide. Per company/IT policy we have restricted user account permissions such that no one can install/modify programs without an IT admin. We do, however, have system startup scripts that update various files and run installers etc.

We would like to push out the latest build and selected components via simple file copy as opposed to installation. But we realize that the C++ redistributable must be installed before 0.8.0050 and up.

I'm wondering if anyone distributes/updates GH in a network environment?

If the C++ runtime is installed and assuming that none of the components install files outside of the GH folder, can we simply copy the Grasshoper folder to update to 0.8.0066?

Any experience with this will be appreciated.

Thank you!

yes all you need is the files. there are no registry settings or similar that actually require an installer.

this is similar to the advice given for obly having rhino v5 installed because the installer actually needs to see v4 it won't work, but if you have access to a v4 machine you can copy the folder.

perfect. Thanks for the quick reply.
