Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hey guys!

i need your help! is there another way not using "rhinonest" to nest/pack groups of curves.

i tried to use antonio turiello's nesting component, ading a roator and a jitter, works quite well, but i kant nest goups of curves (outline+tag)

do you have a definition or a hint how to do this?

thanks bea

PS: i added my definiton, feel free to test!

NESTING example is ready!
Download GENERATION with a new definition included.

For those who are working with Rhino 5 and Grasshopper 0.9 i reset the missing values in the definition (made for GH 0.8).

Have fun :)

ps.

I know its not the prettiest way but hopefully sustained

Hello to all,

I am looking for a way to have different nesting thickness from slice to slice.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone!

I have a slight problem with the nesting. I have a bunch of curves I created with a complex algorithm. Later, this curves should be nested in the most compact way. Trying this, the GENERATION nesting component gives the error that "all curves should be in the xy world plane".  Checking my curves, it seems that they are all in the xy world plane, so I don't know how to fix and check this.

I oriented them on the xy-plane, I moved them, I rebuild them, I placed them above the XY plane and extruded and cut the geometry with the XY-world plane guessing this would solve the problem, ... I tried every solution I could imagine.

Could someone tell me how to fix this problem?

I uploaded my file, in which I baked the curves so you don't have to mind about the rest of the complex algorithm. nesting.gh

Thanks!
