algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi folks,

Could anybody please take a look at the attached definition + 3dm?

The story is as follows:

  1. I start with curve that is offset and then moved on Z axis
  2. Both curves are lofted and sliced in a given number of sections
  3. The resulting curves are divided into a given number of points
  4. The resulting data tree is split so that I can sew the points between two curves, alternating the points
  5. With these points I create the horizontal polylines and the first set of triangles

Here's what I can't do:

  1. I can't create the remaining set of triangles!

I know I'm certainly doing a lot of unnecessary steps, but at least it's working the way I want. I must also say that I'm new to data trees...

I can also imagine that there must be a simpler way of triangulating a surface, I'd appreciate if you could give any other examples.

Hi Lucas,

Once you have a grid of points to work with I use a combination of Flip matrix, and shift list to get triangulation patterns.

I also thank you for introducing me to the "flip matrix" component, it solves my problem perfectly.

Your solution was essential for me to understand what I needed, since it is a bit different of what you've done: the triangles have to be more isoceles-like and oriented in vertical lines. That's why I split the trees in two groups and shifted the points in one of them

I'm uploading my file so you can see how I adapted your definition to my needs.

hi danny,

can you tell me how can i find the right value for the input L parameter

for the Line SDL. the section curves should be distributed in the same

distance on the surface.

then proceed like your def. but this, i can do it by myself.

Not sure I fully understand. Do you mean that the Line should be the same height as the tower. So that you get evenly distributed sections up the height of the tower?
