algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone!
I'm very happy to be a part of this community.
I am just starting to learn how to work with grasshopper, but I have ideas that I would love to see in production now.
Does anyone know where the best place is to find freelance rhino/grasshopper developers?
I have tried odesk.com and craigslist, but I think it makes sense to ask here, at the source.
Is anyone interested in doing a bit of freelance work here?
For this first project specifically, I am looking for someone who can make a gh script that will run a knitting pattern, seamlessly, around curved surfaces.
So i can set a pouch-like-surface, to be made of a homogenous "knit weave".
And then control some things about the weave, probably just pipe radius, amount of x and y "strands", and the closeness of each pipe to its neighbor.
The goal here is to be able to 3d print these in nylon, at shapeways, in 1 run.
Something like this:
http://www.giuliopiacentino.com/knitting-pattern/
But where I can have the pattern run evenly around different surfaces.
Basically I am trying to make "dice bag" like pouches. Basically a 3d printed fabric pouch.
But I would like be able to change the values and set different surfaces, so I can find the best shape.
Is anyone interested?
Or does anyone have a link for a place like odesk, or somewhere similar, that people with grasshopper skills frequent?
I would really appreciate any help with this, it would mean a lot to me.
Thank you so much,
Louie

If you have a job offer, write it up here and I'll pin it to the main forum. We don't get enough job offers to create a special forum for it I think.

Having a job offers section might incentivise more people into posting them. I think this site could make some effort in reducing frictional unemployment of people with Grasshopper skills.
Hi David,
I was wondering if your proposal is still valid:

I pinned your offer to the main page as soon as I saw it. Is that what you meant?

I don't want to stop anybody getting a job, but why cant you just use the definitions on Giulio's page? If you want to pay someone, pay him!
Sorry, that may have sounded insensitive, i mis-read your message. But i'm curious, is it the work to Guilio's definitions that you want? Probably depends on how 'beginner' you are, and what specifically you are needing, but you may not need to pay anybody.
I just loaded up his chain mail definition and put a new surface into it. Is this what you want? (the colours are just to help diferentiate sepperate 'links')
If you want to differentiate each link try randomizing the colors rather than creating a gradient.
thanks, i did it after i uploaded but was too lazy to retake screenshot
Hi Nick,
Your chain mail is looking very good, would it be possible to have a look at the definition?
I am working on a school project where I am working with chain mail, and I am currently trying to apply a chain mail on to my overall mesh.
I am struggling a bit trying to panellise my triangulated mesh... maybe your result could be a better approach?
Hulda, as i said the definition is not mine. It is the Giulio's. The definition is mentioned in the original post, just click on the link
Ok, I understood like yours was another one :)
But thanks for the reply.
I'm having trouble applying that one onto a mesh... but I'll have a closer look at it.
Thanks
This is probably one more reason why need an additional forum, (besides Discussion ; VB, C# and Python Coding ; Errors, Bugs and Oversights ; Teachers ; FAQ). Named "Chit-chat" or something different, it does not matter. The thing that matter is that topics like "Which university to attend for getting a M.Arch. in Computational design", or something similar to this one (job offers) and everything else should "go" in it.
Yes, this is a professional community, not a forum where we will additionally talk about Champions league, cars and holidays. And yes, topics like upper mentioned do not appear that often.
Still it think it would be far more efficient and better if we would leave this "Discussion" forum to have content only related with actual grasshopper discussions, projects and work. Nothing else.
Just my two cents.
Welcome to
