algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello,
I am very new to grasshopper and rhino, and i have what i think is a simple question about fixing naked edges to be able to send my file to the 3D printer. I made some components in grasshopper and then put a solid hexagon underneath them in rhino. The components with the naked edges are made from lofting 4 curves together into one piece. I need to get rid of the naked edges, does anyone have a suggestion of what to do?
The first two images show the naked edges in magenta. The third image shows the collection of components before i put the hexagonal solid underneath them.

Cap, then Union should do the trick.
hi, thank you. i see options for boolean union and boolean mesh union but they don't seem to do the trick. if you have any more suggestions, i'd be curious to know. thanks.
and also said 'unable to cap, the openings did not have closed, planar loops of edges.'
The naked edges on your screenshot looked like they were closed and planar, so if they don't you have to ask yourself why.
Or upload files here because it is hard to tell from only screenshots.
i found this page (http://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/capproblems?s[]=fixing&s[]=naked&s[]=edges) and followed the steps and got to the end without solving the problem.
i'm so new at this that the simplest things don't make much sense to me. i've attached the file. if you are able to take a look that would be really really awesome.

I am not sure I understand exactly what you are wanting to do, but some parameters in your definition will indeed lead in naked edges which are not planar.
Here is a method to "Cap" the surface, there are better methods. (For example you may look at minimal surfaces).

Ok I am not sure I understand exactly what you are trying to do, but some parameters in your definition will lead in naked edges which are not planar.
Here is a method to "Cap" the surface, there are better methods.
(For example you may want minimal surfaces as caps)
