Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Guys,

I am having a difficult time tonight with a naked edge...

When baking the mesh and showing the edge on rhino I get its outer border but when using the naked edge component on Grasshopper I get all the vertices...

Anyone knows what is happening?

Many thanks,

Arthur

Very simple solution with the help of Jon Mirtschin: Welding the mesh Vertices before getting the naked edge. It is strange as Rhino recognizes the naked edge without the welding...I still get a bad corner but working on it.

Thought I would share if you get stuck with the same issue.

Ok I am still getting weird edges even after welding the vertices...

Was anyone confronted with the same problem? Cheers, Arthur

Does bumping up the weld tolerance help any?

Thanks Andrew,

As simple as putting 0.2 in the rhino tolerance and re-computing !!!

Hi Arthur,

have you got a code for extract naked edge curve from mesh ?

Weld vertices is your compomant or jon's compoment ?

Hi RhinoBrigges,

Below is where you can find weld vertices:

Here is the Naked Edge Component You need to download UTO' Mesh Analysis tool):

Hope that helps,

Arthur

Weld vertices and naked edges might be one of uto's Mesh Tools:

Thanks for all,

After a search, I find this component VB written by David: EdgeFinder.ghx,

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/extracting-mesh-creases?c...

That's enough, but thank you for your quick and efficient response.

Here I am at an dead-end.

I use to create the mesh RhinoTerrain that create a mesh with sub mesh.
The component of David does not work in this case.

Would you have an idea, to extract the edge of the global mesh?

No problems with rhino, DupBorder works.

David's code:

Exatly same result...

Did you join and weld your mesh before extracting the naked edge? Remember to flatten the list first.

Of course,  the mesh is already enclosed in a single mesh.

Yes flatten, thirst list but it's a demo...It does not matter at the beginning of a definition.

I've join the mesh file

Works fine on my end...
