multiple selection promblem the computer screen goes blank

hey guys i m a new user of grasshopper and while i started testing some of the tutorials from an e-book i found on net in the task when we have to select multiple points the computer screen goes blank although working on the background but theres nothing displayed on the screen.
i cant even proceed to the next level of tutorials because same problem continues.

currently i m using Rhino 4 SR 2

with system config as:

Dual core 64 AMD
2gb ram
128 graphics card
windows Xp home edition

if anyone has the solution to this promblem please do let me know thanks

Hi Saurabh,

when you say "screen" do you mean the entire screen? Or just Rhino? Or just Grasshopper?

first of all thanks for replying
the thing is the complete screen nothing is displayed on the screen i have to restart the computer so that i can continue working other things but the multiple selection and other tasks such as scripting of longer scripts or programs have become impossible

Hi Saurabh,

since this is such a severe problem, I'm thinking it has something to do with the Display Drivers getting screwed over.

Start Grasshopper, but before you do ANYTHING ELSE, go into the View menu and disable OpenGL Sprites.

Does that fix the problem?

thank u david u saved me from purchasing a new comp because i was so desperate to learn grasshopper i could even buy a new machine for that thanku so much thanku

Glad it worked out. We've found that some graphics cards lie about their capabilities. We use a little OpenGL trick to draw point-crosses very very quickly. We always ask the card if it supports the method we're about to use, and some say "yes" and then crash out anyway...

Do note that points drawn the old-fashioned way will be much slower.

but how did you manage to run grasshopper on SR2? Doesn't it refuse to install unless that condition is met?

initially it did but later on i tried it again and donloded some stuff i dont remember then everything was fine and it continued to work fine but now when i have started practicing it has failed to do so
